We rely on our trusty algorithms to predict the future of the global economy, and one of the things we predicted correctly amidst the global economic crisis caused by Covid-19 is the change in the pillars of consumerism. Because the pandemic has fundamentally changed our ways of life, it is imperative that we adapt and refine the ways in which we approach, make, and harness money. Widespread social distancing orders have revealed one irreducible fact: humans crave social connection. In isolation, we are restricted and claustrophobic; we thrive in the synergy of group settings. This reveals that rather than using money as a way to prop up our egoistic desires, its greater purpose lies in fostering and boosting human connections.

This requires many in the economic and finance industries to adopt new skills. As the contradictions in capital causes the imbalance within our economy to grow, it is evident that many businesses have become products of ego, their successes quantified by vanity metrics and unsubstantiated growth targets. In light of the uncertainty of the current economic climate, the health of these businesses are facing a downturn, which then leads to a chain reaction in the economy at large.
We hope to be part of the solution to this crisis. Billionaire Roundtable’s strategy is to apply algorithms to predict how business should be conducted in this new economy. And our results tell us that to withstand this crisis, it is necessary to adopt new skills.
